Wine has been produced in Hungary since at least as far back as Roman times, with probably the most popular known of recent times being Tokaji (Tokay) the deliciously lush and rich dessert wine and the red wine from Eger known as Bulls Blood.

In more recent times, more wineries have turned to the more popular European varieties, discovering that they can grow them really well and with some surprisingly pleasant results.

Experiments are continuing with other varieties and our selection from Matra include the fabulous French grape variety Pinot Noir and the Alsace grape the Gruner Veltliner.
