Food and Wine Pairing
Food and Wine Pairing may either be seen as a challenge, or as an entertaining item with a bit of common sense thrown in, giving you the oppportunity to make meal times better.
There are certain wines that will match better with certain foods, but there are also some wines that you may surprise yourself with, when taken with a certain meal.
The rule of thumb states that white wine is ideal when served with fish, or white meats such as poultry, and that red wines will compliment red meat dishes such as steaks and stews, but did you know that an Argentinian Malbec is especially good when paired with dark chocolate, or that a Spatlese from Germany can match the sweet and sour dishes of Chinese food?
View this Food and Wine Matching chart, to reference what food and wine pairing is recommended with the popular grape varieties, such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Riesling for cheeses, seafood and desserts and then Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon for meat, vegetables, stews and even desserts!
