| Almost 50% of Pellegrino’s sales are for still wines and the company is considered to be one of the most innovative in the south of Italy. In order to give a greater emphasis and definition to the area of activity the wines are sold under the DUCA DI CASTELMONTE label. In the 1970’s the company was the first to market a range of wines produced from native grape varietals and has continued to seek the individualism and character of the true wines of Sicily. This strategy is now paying dividends, as people tire of the classic varietals, they are coming to respect traditional wines from Sicily. What customers are also finding, to their benefit, is that Sicilian wines offer fantastic value for money. Tripudium is Duca di Castlmonte’s top wine, only produced in a limited quantity in the very best years. The 2001 was the first vintageof this wine. Origin: In the province of Trapani Grapes: 50% Nero d’Avola, 25% Syrah and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon Training: Trellis Soil: Clay – limestone Harvest: End of August to the end of September Vinification: Temperature controlled maceration in stainless steel vats and the must is fermented dry with immediate start of malolactic fermentation.
