Pelee Island Vidal Icewine Halves £39.17

Nestled in the western basin of Lake Erie, Pelee Island is Canada's southernmost inhabited tip of land and is also the warmest region with a growing season over 50 days longer than the mainland and with a unique micro-climate provided by the shallow waters of Lake  Erie. 

The  Vidal Icewine received a Gold Medal at the Citadelles du Vin at Vinexpo, the highest accolade. 

Grapes:        87.5% Vidal, 12.5% Riesling

Viticulture:   Icewine is produced from grapes which are left on the vine in the autumn and then hand harvested in December and January when temperatures fall below -10 C and the grapes have frozen solid naturally on the vine. The sugar content at picking is between 380 and 450g/l sugar. The higher the sugar levels the better the quality must. The yield of the concentrated juices is extremely low meaning that some 75 litres of juice is extracted per 1000 kilos of grapes, making this a very rare and special product.

Taste:           This dessert white wine is lusciously sweet and smooth with rich, concentrated aromas of apricots and peaches    

Serve:          Enjoy its superb tingling acidity and extraordinary length of finish as a sipping wine or as an accompaniment to semi sweet desserts.
