| The accepted common wisdom was that viticulture and viniculture can only take place 30 - 50 degrees North and South of the equator. Thai wines rewrite this wisdom with their "New Latitude" wines. There have infact been grapes grown here since 1685 when they were a gift from Louis XIV to King Narai of Siam. There are cool temperatures during the growing season and this permits the production of balanced and fruity, award winning wines. Moreover, the climate enables both a summer and a winter harvest of grapes. Monsoon valley wines continue to improve in quality vintage after vintage and are receiving great critical acclaim. This exceptional wine from the Monsoon Valley in Thailand, is produced by the selective blending of the indigenous Malaga Blanc grape with the French classic Colombard. This produces this wonderful example of a light and fruity wine with notes of citrus and a smooth, melony character. The light to medium palate has crisp acidity balanced by a touch of residual sugar (although this wine is still dry in style) This will easily compliment any asian dish, but we would especially recommend the accompaniment of Pad Thai or a bowl of Tom Yum Soup!
