| Grapes were harvested from the hillside terrace Bergterrasen vineyards, based on hot sandy soils with a south-west aspect. 2008 was an excellent vintage in the Wachau region in Austria. The grapes had high sugar levels and high acidity, resulting in wines with great ageing potential. The Smaradg classification is named after the brilliant green Smaragd lizard that frequently appears in the vineyards. Grapes: 100% Riesling Notes: Listed as the Best White wine in Austria.
