Grace Koshu Hishiyama Private Reserve £19.94

In 1923, Chuo Budoshu was established in Katsunuma, the birthplace of the wine industry in Japan.

Grace Wineries efforts to make good quality wine, while taking into account the climate and the soils as well as using modern techniques, are evident in this stunning example of the Koshu grape.

This example of the local grape variety is left sur-lie (on the lees) for 5 months before racking to increase the richness, producing a fine wine reminiscent of many Italian or French white wines.

Grapes:     Koshu

Region:     Hishiyama, Japan

Colour:     Pale lemon yellow, silver highlights

Notes:       Fleshy on the nose; rich with lemons and kiwis and tropical notes. Bright lemon acidity on the palate with a perfumed edge and oodles of soft tropical fruit. Great texture and balance with great length.

Serve:      Delicious with most Japanese dishes, stronger flavour dishes of fish and poultry
