| In the 1970’s the company was the first to market a range of wines produced from native grape varietals and has continued to seek the individualism and character of the true wines of Sicily and Italy. This strategy is now paying dividends, as people tire of the classic varietals, they are coming to respect traditional wines from Sicily. What customers are also finding, to their benefit, is that Sicilian wines offer fantastic value for money.
The winery benefits from IS0 9002 and is BRC accredited. Origin: Marsala, North West Siciliy Grapes: 85% Nero d’Avola & 15% Syrah Maker: Gaspare Catalano Vines: 10-15 years old for Nero d’Avola and 6-8 years old for Syrah Viticulture: Vines are trained on trellis. Pruning in the Guyot style. One irrigation in July if needed. Soil: Clay – limestone Harvest: Mid September by hand and machine Vinification: A controlled maceration with selected yeasts for 48 to 60 hours. Fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.. Colour: Ruby red. Serve: Serve at room temperature to accompany roast and grilled meats, meat pasta dishes and mild cheese.
