| Cantina Bonacchi, founded in 1965, is a family owned winery that is situated in the heart of the Montalbano Hills, that lie between the towns of Florence and Pistoia in Tuscany, Italy and has been making fine Tuscan wines for 3 generations The family owns 40 hectares of vineyards in the Chianti Montalbano and Chianti Classico Gallo Nero as well as 10 hectares divided between Brunello DOCG, Rosso di Montalcino DOC and the Sant'Antino DOC, and 15 hectares from Montecucco DOC vines. Cantina Bonacchi is ISO9001 2000 and IFT certified. The family's main goal is to produce quality wines at great prices. A Chianti may have a picture of a black rooster (known in Italian as a gallo nero) on the neck of the bottle, which indicates that the producer of the wine is a member of the "Gallo Nero" Consortium; an association of producers of the Classico sub-area sharing marketing costs.Since the black rooster has been the emblem of the Chianti Classico producers association. Grapes: 90% Sangiovese &10% Canaiolo Vinification: Fermentation in temperature controlled vats with medium length maceration on skins. Ageing: After the final blend is assembled, the wine is aged for 6 months or longer in oak casks then stored in stainless steel tanks. Bottling takes place during the second year following the vintage and the wine benefits from 6 months bottle age before being released for sale. Colour: Ruby red tending to garnet with age. Serve: At 18-20C with grilled red meats and game dishes. Taste: Velvety, round, full bodied and balanced with hints of wood, berries, cherries and violets on the nose.
